New $1,500 Fees and Charges Rebate for NSW Small Businesses

April 20, 2021

The NSW Government has introduced a new initiative for small businesses to assist in recovery from the impacts of COVID-19 and encourage growth by providing a rebate on eligible NSW and local government fees and charges.

Eligible businesses only need to apply for the rebate once, but can submit multiple claims up to a total value of $1,500.

To be eligible for this rebate, small businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • Have total wages below the NSW payroll tax threshold of $1.2 million
  • Have an ABN registered in NSW and/or have business premises physically located and operating in NSW
  • Be registered for GST
  • Provide a declaration from your accountant that the business has a turnover of at least $75,000 per year

The funds can be used only to offset the costs of eligible NSW and local government fees and charges due and paid from 1 March 2021 until 30 June 2022. These includes costs such as:

  • Food authority licences
  • Liquor licences
  • Tradesperson licences
  • Event fees
  • Outdoor seating fees
  • Council rates

The rebate can be applied for through the ServiceNSW website here: https://apply.service.nsw.gov.au/small-business-fee-and-charges-rebate/

You will need to have proof of identify documents and supporting documentation ready, including the accountants letter and invoices for the fees and charges, to submit the application.

Please get in touch with Eclipse Accounting Group so we can assist you with the process by providing you with a declaration of turnover letter or if you have any queries regarding the process.
